Happy Birthday to ME!

I know I am not the best photographer, but you get the idea! 

I've been thinking about my b-day cake since October... flavors, colors, decorations... That is when I sketched out what my birthday cake was going to look like and loved it.  For some reason when it got down to the wire, I changed my mind.  It was supposed to be hot pink and navy with 3 different flowers (more classic style)!  Not sure why, I love those 2 colors together and I love classic.  I ended up making a light blue buttercream (mind you I made 3 different batches of frosting for this cake, but in the end, went back to my original recipe with some slight modifications).  The cake was a perfect vanilla almond base with an almond paste concoction (trying to think of a prettier word!) & chopped almonds between each layer.  I LOVE almond anything, so as far as taste, this was the cake for me!  The flowers and medallions were hot pink/coral ish with gold highlights.  DEFINITELY my favorite cake!  I had two pieces (they were small)!  Enjoy the pics!
